Thinking about refering a client?

We've all had those jobs that seemed easy to fix at first and then they turned into a nightmare. None of the standard solutions want to work after hours or days of trying. At first the client is willing to do what it takes but by the third try they don't want to hear any more ideas. They want it fixed. That's when Powder Flush can help you out. We specialise in difficult jobs and often come in after more than one engineer has tried their luck and where power flushing failed.

When to call Powder Flush
:

- Boiler keeps on overheating. The pump and the heat exchanger have been changed, but it didn't change much.

- After power flushing a system without any good result.

- After power flushing a system and making it work better but after two weeks, it goes back to the exact same problems.

- Some radiators don't heat up, even after the valves and radiators have been changed.

- There are rubber hoses on a system/boiler that can block the system/boiler up pretty bad. Because these rust pieces are large, it only takes one piece to block a boiler and getting that one piece out, does not always work.

If you have any experience on power flushing microbore plastic/copper, you might know by now that it is a bit like a roll of the dice: try and see what happens. At Powder Flush we can reliably clean microbore pipes with much better results than standard power flushing: that’s why we are also called microbore guru

Why would you refer a client to us?

We do not do anything besides PowDer Flushing systems. We don't do standard plumbing and we don't service or fit boilers. We only unblock and clean heating systems, and we start every job with the intention of getting it all working again. We leave once we have done our work, and you go back to being your clients’ trusted engineer.

Example job completed in Esher, London (March 2024):

The engineer was called to a large house with 19 radiators. The issue was that only the middle floor (out of three floors) was heating a little. The rest of the radiators didn’t really get hot at all. The engineer changed and upgraded the pump to light commercial and changed the pump valves, which did not really change anything at all for this blocked open vented system. As this engineer has referred us before and knows what we can accomplish. He recommended us to his clients as the solution, over recommending a new boiler, power flushing or new radiators and valves.

When we arrived, we heated the system to know how bad it is. Out of 19 radiators, only 3 heated correctly. It took us 8 hours to fully clean and unblock the system/pipes and radiators, with 19 out of 19 radiators heating 100% when we were done. We found during the work that the system was partially piped with plastic pipes, that tend to block up easier and harder than copper pipes. We were able to unblock them as well!

Engineers specification on this system: Open vented system with 19 Rads over three floors, 35kw  Worchester bosh heat only boiler, main runs are in 28mm copper with all rads on 15mm copper and plastic, 2 x 2 port valves with pressurised bypass and light commercial pump, boiler was cycling as there was not enough flow to run at full power.

Example job completed in St. Albans (May 2023):

The heating engineer changed the boiler on a sealed system as he thought it would fix the radiators only partially heating up. After the boiler swap did not resolve the problem he tried to power flush the system three times and spent several days trying to fault find. He eventually gave up and asked his client to book Powder Flush. We unblocked and cleaned the system in 8 hours. The radiators were fully heating up once we were done.

Example job completed in Essex (February 2022):

The client's mother has dementia and she lives on her own. In November 2021 her heating broke down and they called their regular gas engineer. He changed the pump, while they had to take a day of work, to be there with him. Days later, client called him back because the heating still did not work. He figured that the pump came from a bad batch and went back to change pump for a different brand. Still does not work! He went back and changed the boiler. One day job, straight swap, and power flushed the system on the same day. Tried to commission the boiler, F code Error. Boiler did not stay on for more than 60 seconds. He power flushed the system again, still boiler did not work. He called manufacturer and they send someone, days later. They said he might have pumped the sludge/rust into the new heat exchanger and recommended changing it. He ordered a new heat exchanger, went back and fit it in. F code error, same problem, boiler did not work. Engineer gives up and askes client to book us.

On the day: We started working on the system at 10am and by 4pm the system was working correctly, with the boiler running at maximum with heating and hot water working like it should. What was it? Hardened rust build up is pipes, that normal power flushing couldn't move.
